TAOGOI:
The Art of Getting Over It

"When you feel like you're drowning, why not walk through the Mojave desert to dry off?"

If you live with any complex trauma, such as CPTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress disorder), and want to start your own healing journey- 1100 Miles is for you.

Taogoi, a young woman from the PNW, found herself struggling to get through each day after going no contact with most of her family. After her grandmother passed away of cancer and loosing her job days later, Taogoi headed out to California to start her six month journey on the Pacific Crest Trail at the Mexico Boarder.

The trek north was not only physically demanding, but emotionally draining as well. Trail gave enough time and space for exploration of the maze inside her mind, letting her grow in unexpected ways. Follow her 1100 mile journey from Mexico to Canada as she processes past traumas and learns to fall in love with herself.

Campfire Stories: Volume II

The authors of the Campfire Stories book series, Dave and Ilyssa Kyu reached our to us about being a apart of their second volume that features both the Appalachian Trail and Pacific Crest Trail. They asked for a collection of poems to feature along with a little synopsis of Taogoi's experience on trail. It was a great opportunity and an honor to be in the same book as some incredible other writers, award winners such as Lauret Savoy, Rae DelBianco, and Terry Tempest Williams. Allie "Taogoi" Donaldson

Allie, aka Taogoi, is our poet and author. After nearly a decade of struggling with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), she took a leap of faith and decided she would try long distance hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail,  having never backpacked before. Hiking and writing poetry under the name Taogoi (an acronym for The Art of Getting Over It), she internalized the hard lessons of the trail; from pushing through blizzards above 10,000ft and processing years of trauma along the way.
